SUMMARY:Hartsville American Legion Post 53 Oratorical Contest
DESCRIPTION:The American Legion Oratorical Contest provides high school age students the opportunity to compete for higher education scholarship funds by speaking about the United States Constitution. The participants speak for eight to ten minutes about a US Constitution topic of their choice (prepared oration). The participants then speak for three to five minutes about one of four US Constitution related topics (assigned topics). The participants know what the four potential assigned topics are\, but do not know which of the four topics will be assigned to them until five minutes before they are to speak about it. Both orations are given without notes or props of any kind.
