DESCRIPTION:FOR KIDS AND ADULTS!\n\nStudents are taught the basics of West African drumming: The origin of the djembe and its role in West African culture and in contemporary global contexts\; the three basic tones used to play rhythms and how to use them to play traditional West African rhythms and to create original rhythms of their own. \n\nINVESTMENT:\n\n$125 for all 3 classes or $50 per class\n\nDATES & TIMES:\n\nTuesdays on 3/12\, 3/19\, and 3/26\n\n\n	\n	Kids: 5:00-6:00pm\n	\n	\n	Adults 6:30-7:30pm\n	\n\n\nLOCATION:\n\nMain Art Gallery on 1st floor of Black Creek Arts\n\nABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:\n\nBhakti Larry Hough is a multi-disciplinary artist and president and artist-in-residence at NewWorld Arts in Bishopville. His many arts endeavors include teaching and performing West African djembe drumming. He has conducted 25 African drumming arts residencies in 18 South Carolina public schools and in community arts centers and churches. He is a Certified Teaching Artist and a juried member of the South Carolina Arts Commission's SC Arts Directory.
