DESCRIPTION:Join Josh Arrants\, nationally renowned naturalist\, for a nature study day at Kalmia Gardens. From plants to spiders\, snakes to birds\, and everything in between\, the serendipity of Mother Nature herself will inspire and delight\, with Josh serving as guide. The day will begin with a presentation\, break for a group lunch\, and conclude with a tour of the grounds\, where everything from local ecology to cultural history will be explored.\n\nAttendees are asked to bring comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for an outdoor hike. The hike will include inclines and declines on uneven and unpaved terrain.\n\nJosh Arrants is a nationally renowned naturalist who has over 25 years of experience working with endangered species\, monitoring flora and fauna populations\, and teaching natural history across the United States. Originally from the Palmetto State\, Josh has lived in Montana for over a decade and served on the board of directors of The Glacier Institute\, where served as the immediate past president. He has taught Master Naturalist classes in SC\, TX\, and MT. Most recently\, he received the 2024 Lindsay Pettus Conservation Award from Katawba Valley Land Trust and Arrants Outdoors was awarded the 2025 Green Business of the Year Award from the Environmental Education Association of South Carolina.\n\nPre-registration and $75 tickets are required and can be purchased HERE\, or by contacting Kalmia Gardens at (843) 383-8145\, or by email at LContreras@coker.edu.
